Public Y Combinator companies from 2020 to today
Explore the patterns across recent YC companies—then turn your business plan into a private, evidence-led fit report.
Distance is the signal. Nearby dots represent companies with similar model profiles. X and Y are normalized layout coordinates—not individual business metrics or scores.
Batch ramp speed
YC announces a batch a few companies at a time. Each line below is one batch’s cumulative company count, measured from the day it first reached 5 companies—so batches overlay and their ramp speeds compare directly. Reconstructed from the daily commit history of the public yc-oss/api mirror.
How many more to expect
Fall 2026 is on day 38 with 30 companies. At the same point, the 5 earlier batches below went on to finish between 43 and 131 — a median of 66.
| Batch | To 50 | To 100 | To 150 | Now |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Winter 2025 | 36d | 56d | 70d | 166 |
| Spring 2025 | 31d | 46d | — | 143 |
| Summer 2025 | 26d | 41d | 56d | 166 |
| Fall 2025 | 17d | 38d | 57d | 146 |
| Summer 2026 | 36d | 52d | 65d | 236 |
| Fall 2026 | — | — | — | 30 |
The mirror samples once a day and has gaps — the longest ran 84 days from 2026-02-09, so a change on an unsampled day is attributed to the next sampled one. Per-company additions only go back to 2026-06-30. Spring 2026 and Winter 2026 are left off the chart because most of their growth landed inside a gap.
How to read this
Industry, batch, location, and descriptions come from public YC directory records. Target market and AI linkage are transparent rule-based inferences used to make the map easier to explore.
The public directory covers companies from 2020 through the current year. The active fit model remains separately versioned, so search updates never silently change an existing score. This is an independent research tool, not an official YC product, acceptance probability, or investment recommendation.
